Way of Words presented a writing and "found poetry" workshop at the Philadelphia Assembled exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Way of Words presented an interactive art and poetry "happening" in its Germantown studio space as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Participants created a community poem wall by arranging words with blocks, writing them as poems and hanging poetry portraits.

Way of Words staged a “pop up” art and poetry studio for 3 days at the Waterworks, on the Schuylkill River Walk as a participant artist for CFEVA’s Art in the Open event. Participants were invited to contribute to a community book, take a clipboard and find inspiration along the river, spontaneously read or participate in to improvised poetry / music readings. The happening attracted diverse passersby of all ages, nationalities, experiences and artistic interests.
Way of Words collaborated with Middle School English and Art Teachers and students to create a series of workshops in conjunction with the “Lit” exhibition at the Barbara Crawford Gallery. The community book they produced incorporated words, images and ideas inspired by the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan.
Way of Words created at customized book using reproductions of he blueprints and drawings and writings of Julian Abele. Community participants worked on the book as part of the Parkway Branch’s celebration of the grand opening of the The Robert and Eileen Kennedy Heim Center, which occupies the building Abele originally designed.
Way of Words welcomed several groups of Young Scholar Charter School students as part of their real world learning curriculum. Students participated in poetry workshops, a bookmaking activity and explored various collage and drawing techniques in our studio on Herman Street.
Way of Words collaborated with counselors, teachers and students to create a series of classroom visits that focused group poetry writing, teamwork and and community celebration. The poetry activities used songs and song lyrics chosen by the students as a jumping off point for their poetry explorations. Additionally, we read and discussed the haiku poems of Sonia Sanchez for inspiration.nActivities were designed to incorporate writing and reading in brail for this inclusive project.
